2026.9.10 the AI Scribe can record a patient who is on a call

Some consultations happen with the patient on the phone or a video call, and on a headset the patient's voice never reaches the microphone. The AI Scribe can now take the call's audio as its own channel beside the microphone, so the note is written from both sides of the conversation, and the consent dialog has a version written for a patient who is on the call. This is off by default and turned on per clinic. Also in this release: the Prospects date filters let you finish typing a year, and two ways a Scribe recording could be interrupted are closed.

AI Scribe: a patient on a call

If the clinician is on speakerphone, the microphone already hears the patient. With a headset it does not, and only the clinician would be recorded. Where your clinic has call audio turned on, a Call audio control sits beside Start recording on the chart, and the call is connected before the recording starts:

  • A browser tab: share the tab the call is in, with its audio. This is the one to prefer, because it captures that tab and nothing else.
  • This whole screen: share the screen with the computer's audio. This works on Windows and ChromeOS only, and it captures everything the computer plays.
  • An audio input: a second input device that carries the call, such as a virtual audio device or a telephony handset. This is the route on a Mac for a desktop calling application.

The screen says which of these your browser and computer can actually do, and shows the ones that cannot work with the reason on them rather than hiding them. Once connected, a level reading shows the call is live before the consultation begins. If the call audio stops part way through, the recording carries on with the microphone alone and the dock says at once that the person on the call is no longer being recorded.

Each side of the call is transcribed separately, so who said what is known from the recording itself rather than worked out from the voices, and the record says the visit was recorded from a call.

When call audio is connected, the consent dialog names the patient as on the call and gives a script written for someone on the phone or a video call. It asks whether anyone with the patient can hear, reminds you to tell the patient who else is in the room, and ends by asking for a spoken yes. A clinician on speakerphone can tick The patient is on a call to get the same script. The consent is recorded as given on a call.

Like every consent wording in the product, the call wording is a draft for your clinic's own review: rules about recording a call differ from place to place.

Call audio is off by default and enabled per clinic; ask your Fertiligent contact. See AI Scribe.

AI Scribe: a recording is harder to interrupt

  • A tab closed in the few seconds after Stop no longer loses the consultation. The recording is finished on its own a few minutes later, and the note follows as usual.
  • A tab that is recording a visit is never refreshed onto a newly released version of Fertiligent. Other tabs update as before.

Prospects: date filters you can finish typing

The DOB, Age, Referral date, Date contacted and Last interaction filters on the Prospects list used to close after the first digit of a year. They now stay open while you type, and the list updates once the date is complete.
